Seaboard Marine has enhanced its North Atlantic – North Central America service to include a weekly call to the Port of New York and New Jersey’s Red Hook Container Terminal in Brooklyn.
The weekly service directly connects Brooklyn with El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
The service commenced April 29 from Santo Tomas, Guatemala, and started with the 2,000-TEU Seaboard Atlantic, which arrived at Red Hook Container Terminal on May 6.
The following week Seaboard Marine launched a second ship for weekly service. The ACRUX N, a 1,740-TEU capacity containership, embarked from Puerto Cortes, Honduras, arriving at Red Hook on May 13.

The two-vessel string carries general merchandise cargo, including produce and apparel. The addition of the Seaboard Marine service allows the Port of New York and New Jersey to tap into an expanding market for fresh produce imports. The port is the country’s second-largest importer of refrigerated goods, according to Descartes Datamyne.

One must wonder who the Trump administration is trying to punish with its growing enthusiasm for tariffs. The tariffs are offsetting much of the savings from tax cuts, and if this continues there could be tough months ahead.

U.S. beef exports stood at 105,241 metric tons in April, down 5% year-over-year, while the nation’s pork exports totaled 216,757 metric tons during the month, down 6% year-over-year, according to the U.S. Meat Export Federation.
