Customs and Border Protection has sworn in Donald R. Kusser this week as its port director for Los Angeles International Airport.
CBP at LAX oversees an expansive international passenger, air cargo, express, international mail and agricultural compliance operation.
Kusser also is in charge of CBP activities of nearby airports, including John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Ontario, Palm Springs, San Bernardino, Victorville and Van Nuys user fee and international air cargo operations.
Kusser previously served as CBP’s assistant port director for tactical operations at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Acting CBP commissioner resigns
John Sanders, who had led U.S. Customs and Border Protection in an acting role since mid-April, will depart the agency on July 5.
