J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced Monday the completion of its acquisition of Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery.
The transaction, which was announced Jan. 9 as a $100 million definitive agreement, closed and became effective Friday.
Cory’s home delivery service will be integrated with J.B. Hunt’s Final Mile division of its Dedicated Contract Services business unit. The Final Mile division, which operates one of the largest, co-mingled cross-dock operations and can serve 100 percent of the contingent U.S., has grown to include 100 locations and more than 3.1 million square feet of warehouse and facilities space with the Cory acquisition.
“Cory’s customer-first mentality and focus on the consumer experience have made it one of the best in the furniture business,” said Nick Hobbs, executive vice president and president of Dedicated Contract Services at J.B. Hunt. “Those values very much align with ours, and we are proud to welcome Cory to the J.B. Hunt family.”

The demise of small trucking companies is very similar to the demise of mid-scale farms, and it’s a serious concern especially as owners of these smaller trucking companies age out of the system.

The U.S. international trade goods and services deficit was $49.4 billion in February, down $1.8 billion from January's revised figures, according to U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
