Two longtime staff members are promoted; a chief information officer is hired; and a port commissioner is sworn in.

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) announced this week that two staff members, Mary Beth Long and Meredith Martino, are being promoted, effective Jan. 1.
Long will become vice president of external affairs, and Martino will be vice president of member engagement.
AAPA said when Jean Godwin, executive vice president and general counsel, announced earlier this year her intention to reduce her role in 2019, the association set in motion a transition process and succession plan.
Godwin will continue to serve as general counsel. The outreach and membership services department she has led will be separated into two departments: external affairs and member engagement.
Long joined AAPA in 1999 as part of the government relations department. Prior to that, she coordinated legislative activities at the law firm of Thomson Coburn.

Hired in 2004, Martino also got her start at AAPA in the government relations department. Her previous experience includes lobbying for the Travel Industry Association of America.

Allan Erickson was sworn in Wednesday to serve on the Port of Longview Board of Commissioners.
Erickson was selected to fill the seat vacated by Bob Bagaason. A lifelong resident of the Longview, Wash., area, Erickson worked in the printing industry for more than 40 years.

The board is comprised of three elected members representing the citizens of the port district. Commissioners serve six-year terms and set governing policy for the Port of Longview.
