Crowley Logistics said Thursday it has added 400 new refrigerated cargo containers to its equipment fleet just in time for the peak perishables shipping season beginning in Central America.
The additional units are all 40-foot-long high cubes equipped with wireless asset monitoring technology to provide continuous monitoring of the equipment as it transits from origin to destination, both at sea and over land, to ensure the cold chain is maintained the entire time goods are in transit, regardless of shipment size, Crowley said.
The reefer containers were received in Santo Tomas, Guatemala, last week directly from the manufacturing facility to accommodate the country’s heavy northbound reefer season, which will continue through May. The reefers also will be distributed throughout rest of Crowley’s regional service lanes as needed.
