Eli Glickman took over as president and chief executive officer of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd on July 1, replacing Rafi Danieli, who had served in the post since 2009.

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd’s new president and chief executive officer, Eli Glickman, officially took office on July 1, the Israeli ocean carrier said in a statement.
Glickman, 56, took the proverbial helm from Rafi Danieli, who had served as president and CEO of ZIM since 2009.
From 2011 to 2015, Glickman served as CEO of the Israel Electric Corp., and prior to that, he was deputy CEO of Partner – Orange Communication and previously managed Partner Orange’s customer division. Glickman also served as CEO of logistics company Exel MPL from 2003 to 2005.
“I want to thank Rafi Danieli, who has steered ZIM through rough seas,” Glickman said. “As CEO, my primary goal is to continue this positive momentum and lead ZIM to greater heights.”
ZIM serves ports of call in over 120 countries across the globe and has 4,200 employees. In 2016, the carrier transported 2.43 million TEUs and had an annual turnover of $2.54 billion.
We are already far beyond the optimum capacity limits in the terminals below the locks, with serious consequences for efficiency. We therefore continue to insist that additional container capacity below the locks is urgently needed.
The Drewry-assessed World Container Index, a composite of container freight rates on eight major routes to and from the U.S., Europe and Asia, was down 5.7 percent to $1,689.95 per 40-foot container as of Jan. 10.
