The information company Panjiva said it has created a new product called Maritime Monitor that it says is designed "to meet the trade analysis and lead generation requirements for the maritime industry."
The product customizes Automated Manifest Systems data from U.S. Customs and Census data to provide trade intelligence for companies looking to identify both import and export shipments for sales leads. The tool will also provide a snapshot of current waterborne trends and port trends for additional trade-lane analysis.

The year 2018 was a turbulent one for the container shipping industry, but it might have been only a warm-up for 2019.

Port management company International Container Terminal Services Inc. reported a consolidated volume of 9,736,621 TEUs in its 2018 fiscal year, which was a 6 percent increase.
