Port Freeport, on the Texas Gulf Coast, has named Glenn Carlson as executive director.
He replaces A.J. "Pete" Reixach Jr., who retired in April. Phyllis Saathoff was the acting port director, but recently took her name out of the running for the permanent post to take an executive job
at the Port of Houston.
Carlson was selected by unanimous vote of the board of commissioners, the Freeport Port Authority said.
He previously was senior vice president of liner services and business development for the North Carolina Ports Authority, where he was responsible for marketing and pricing container, bulk and breakbulk business activities.
He has also served as vice president of TRAC Lease Inc., a provider of container chassis, in Charlotte, N.C., and director of the South Atlantic and Gulf region for Maher Chassis Management. He also served as vice president of operations for Aqua-Gulf Transport in Florida. Before that, he worked 20 years for former Sea-Land Service in logistics and sales management.
