The liner carrier CMA CGM on Friday took delivery of the second of the series of what is currently the largest containership in the world.
The 16,000-TEU U.K.-flagged CMA CGM Alexander Von Humbold
t will be deployed on the French carrier’s flagship FAL1 service between Asia and Europe.
The third vessel in the series, the Jules Verne
, is scheduled for delivery in May. The first vessel, the Marco Polo
, delivered in November 2012, is currently the largest containership in operation, but that will be eclipsed later this year when Maersk receives the first of its 18,000-TEU "Triple-E" vessels. - Eric Johnson
