Seaboard Corp. chairman Bresky dies
H. Harry Bresky, 81, chairman of the diverse Seaboard Corp., died March 11.
Bresky was president and chief executive officer from 1967 until his retirement from those posts last July. He continued to serve as chairman of Kansas-based Seaboard Corp., which has businesses ranging from agricultural products and power generation to its Miami-based shipping line, Seaboard Marine. He had been chairman since 1973.
A native of Boston, Bresky was an undergraduate at Yale University when his studies were interrupted by service in World War II. When the war ended, he joined the milling business established by his father, Otto, in 1921.
During his tenure, Bresky transformed Seaboard from a domestic flour milling company to an international agribusiness and transportation company engaged in various industries including pork production, ocean transportation, commodity merchandising, grain processing, sugar production and electric power generation.
Bresky is the father of Steven J. Bresky, current Seaboard Corp. president and CEO.
