Boston shipyard expanding in Philadelphia
Boston Ship Repair Inc. is planning to open a new facility in Philadelphia at the site of the former Philadelphia Naval shipyard.
The company is a military and commercial ship repair and construction company capable of dry docking both large Navy ships and large commercial vessels such as cruise ships.
The new operations will be located near the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, which has built new ships in recent years for Overseas Shipholding Group and Matson Lines.
Boston Ship Repair was organized by the private investment firm Dimeling Schreiber & Park with the firms Taglich Brothers and Weatherly Capital in September 2006.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the new facility will do business under the name PennShip Service and will employ 200, more during peak periods.
