New York issues overhang longshore talks

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) resumed contract negotiations on Tuesday, but sources say efforts to reform work rules and improve productivity in the Port of New York and New Jersey are likely to overhang national talks. USMX is negotiating a master contract with the ILA for handling containerized cargo at 14 ports cargo on the East and Gulf coasts.
