ZIM will launch a new service between Asia and the West Coast of North America beginning in mid-May, it announced Thursday.
ZIM said the new service will improve transit time and extend port coverage.
The service includes three weekly loops: NP1, NP2 and NP3.
According to data from BlueWater Reporting, ZIM currently participates in the following four transpacific services:
- Evergreen Line's HTW
- Grand Alliance/ZIM’s Pacific Northwest Express-PNX
- Grand Alliance’s North West Express-NWX (ZIM purchases slots on this service)
- Evergreen Line/Hanjin’s CPS2/CAX
According to BlueWater Reporting, two of these four services will join the G6 Alliance's transpacific portfolio, with the Grand Alliance/ZIM Pacific Northwest Express PNX becoming the NP1 and the Grand Alliance's North West Express NWX becoming the NP3. Therefore, ZIM is only adding one additional transpacific service, BlueWater said, the NP2, formerly the New World Alliance-operated PNW.
