Third-party logistics services provider UTi Worldwide has opened a new facility in the Houston area that will allow it to expand its work with the energy sector.
"UTi sees the energy sector as a high potential growth opportunity and as such has invested resources in growing this vertical market," said Bruce Hulings, global vice president for UTi’s Energy, Mining + Projects, in a statement.
"Besides this Houston facility, we established regional offices in key global markets where energy exploration and drilling is centered," he added.
The facility is located near Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
"We recognize the unique needs of the Houston market and built out this multi-purpose logistics facility that brings together the best of our project logistics, air, ocean and brokerage operations under one roof," said Ed Feitzinger, UTi’s executive vice president for global operations. "Additionally, we located our Global Ocean Charter Desk at this location to serve our clients enterprise-wide and interface efficiently with our EMP team since the need for special ocean charters is greater for these clients."
