U.S. Coast Guard steps up Arctic activity

   The U.S. Coast Guard is stepping up its activity in the Arctic in response to increased shipping activity and oil exploration, said Sally Brice-O'Hara, the agency's vice commandant.    Speaking Monday at the Connecticut Maritime Association's Shipping 2012 conference in Stamford, Brice-O'Hara said the Coast Guard is watching as new trade routes emerge, noting there was "some success this year with north sea routes along the coast of Russia."    She t...
