UPS has opened two distribution facilities in Chengdu and Shanghai, China, pushing its total number of these operations in the country to more than 130.
Officials at the non-bonded facilities, which are geared toward shippers worldwide that are trying to reach Chinese customers, will provide warehousing and distribution solutions. The 47,000-square-foot Chengdu facility is located near the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The 70,000-square-foot Shanghai development is close to the Shanghai Pudong Airport.
"UPS is committed to supporting emerging market demand and helping customers expand into new markets in China," UPS' Jim Barber said in a statement. "Expansion efforts, such as the opening of these two facilities, will bring unmatched resources to our customers looking for a national distribution platform in China." - Jon Ross
