A new report from Supply Chain Insights finds that certain industry sectors have, on average, more resilient supply chains than others.
The report, "Supply Chain Metrics That Matter: Improving Supply Chain Resiliency
," suggests that supply chains in the medical device and consumer goods industries are most resilient, while the chemical and consumer electronics industries are among the least resilient.
Supply Chain Insights specifically cited branded consumer electronics makers' vulnerability to contract manufacturers, while acknowledging that virtually no other industry faces as much demand and supply volatility.
The report advises shippers to benchmark, with the caveat that progress comes slowly. The firm's research is based on industry verticals, or peer groups.
