The U.S. Maritime Administration on Monday invited the public and marine transportation system stakeholders to participate in a discussion to develop a national maritime strategy. The purpose of this public meeting is to gather ideas for improving, expanding and strengthening key aspects of the marine transportation system. The notice in the Federal Register
also requests speaker and topic proposals for the public meeting’s agenda. The public meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, Jan. 14 through Jan. 16, 2014. Ideas for agenda topics and other comments will be accepted through Nov. 22.
The meeting will be held at the Department of Transportation's headquarters in Washington.
It will overlap the annual Transportation Research Board convention in Washington, which is heavily attended by transportation officials from the freight industry and is supported by the DOT.
