Low water stalls Mississippi barge traffic

   The Coast Guard has closed an 11-mile stretch of the Mississippi River because of low water levels, causing a backlog of almost 100 boats and barges, according to the Associated Press .    The severe drought has caused water levels to sharply recede on the Mississippi this summer and the stretch near Greenville, Miss., has been closed off and on since Aug. 11.    The Army Corps of Engineers is trying to dredge the river channel in areas to keep commodities flowing, but ...
