The Coast Guard has closed an 11-mile stretch of the Mississippi River because of low water levels, causing a backlog of almost 100 boats and barges, according to the Associated Press . The severe drought has caused water levels to sharply recede on the Mississippi this summer and the stretch near Greenville, Miss., has been closed off and on since Aug. 11.
