The Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners last week appointed Al Moro as the port's interim executive director.
Moro, currently the chief harbor engineer, replaces Christopher Lytle, who recently was hired away to lead the Port of Oakland.
Moro, who joined the port in 1997, oversees all engineering activity, including the port's $4 billion capital improvement campaign.
His appointment will go into effect following a formal vote on June 17, the Long Beach port authority said. - Eric Kulisch
