, the Website Politico.com
reported Tuesday morning.
LaHood broke the news to department employees, according to the Politico
LaHood has been coy about his intentions in recent months, but department watchers expected him to leave after one term. A few months ago he said he hadn't decided on whether to stay, but a year ago told reporters he planned to leave after one term.
During his tenure, the DOT quickly distributed billions in dollars from the 2009 stimulus plan for road infrastructure improvements, created the popular TIGER grant program for multi-modal projects, and helped craft a two-year surface transportation bill. - Eric Kulisch
