LA volume up 14.5% in April

   The Port of Los Angeles set a container volume record for April, according to statistics released by the port Tuesday.    The port, the biggest in the Western Hemisphere, had volume of 707,182 TEUs in the month, a 14.5 percent year-on-year increase. Import volume rose 16.7 percent to 364,555 TEUs, while exports rose 11.6 percent to 186,838 TEUs. Year-to-date total volume at Los Angeles is up 6.1 percent to nearly 2.6 million TEUs.    The neighboring Port of Long B...
