The Port of Los Angeles saw loaded container volume drop 3.2 percent year-on-year in October, with exports falling more than 7 percent.
The port’s total volume actually rose 0.8 percent during the month to 718,406 TEUs, but that was primarily due to a 15.7 percent increase in empties. Inbound volume fell 1.1 percent to 364,881 TEUs, while export volume fell 7.1 percent, to 179,810 TEUs.
Year-to-date, total volume at the port is up 4.7 percent.
The neighboring Port of Long Beach had not released their October figures as of Thursday morning.
