George W. Pasha III, 79, chairman and former chief executive of the Pasha Group
, died last week in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Pasha greatly expanded the business started by his father into a diversified, international transportation company that offers services for the automobile import industry, relocation services for military personnel and corporations, stevedoring services, commercial freight forwarding,
international project cargo, and operation of a shipping service between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii. The company's first vessel for the Hawaii trade, the roll-on/roll-off ship Jeanne Anne
, is expected to be supplemented later this year by the Marjorie C
, a ship that will carry both ro/ro and container cargoes.
Survivors include his wife Janet and children, including George IV, current CEO of the Pasha Group; Maureen; Michael; Mary Jane; and John, a senior vice president at the company.
A service is planned in San Francisco on Aug. 28.
