Sean Strawbridge has stepped down as managing director of trade development and port operations at the Port of Long Beach, spokesman Daniel Yi confirmed.
The former shipping executive left to pursue other unspecified opportunities, according to Yi. His last day was March 8.
Strawbridge joined the Port of Long Beach two years ago after serving as director of corporate development at Ports America, a large terminal operator and stevedoring company. He previously held finance, sales, operations and IT positions with America West Airlines (now US Airways), Sea-Land Services Inc. (now part of Maersk Line) and Marine Terminals Corp., which was acquired by a private equity group and renamed Ports America.
The Jacksonville Port Authority has named Alberto Cabrera director and general manager of trade development and marketing.
In his new position, Cabrera is responsible for the overall management of cargo sales activities and the development of strategic marketing plans the Florida port.
Cabrera has more than 20 years in the maritime industry. He joined Jaxport’s marketing team in 2003 as manager of Latin American sales, which included the lift-on/lift-off and roll-on/roll-off cargo sectors. Cabrera was promoted to director of cargo sales and global marketing in 2006 taking on the additional responsibility of overseeing port’s breakbulk and bulk businesses.
Prior to joining Jaxport, Cabrera was in charge of all terminal management activities and vessel operation for Jacksonville-based Trailer Bridge, a shipping line which services Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Earlier in his career, Cabrera held position at Stevens Shipping and Navieras de Puerto Rico.
Swissport International Ltd., a provider of ground services to the aviation industry, has appointed Juan Carlos Garcia as its new general manager for Swissport Cargo Services in Spain.
His last position at Swissport was passenger services airport manager at Madrid-Barajas Airport. He replaces Jesús Romero, who will become Swissport Cargo’s commercial director for Europe.
Prior to joining Swissport, Garcia held positions at Thyssen, Daewoo and Johnson Controls.
