Supply chain executive think tank SCM World has appointed Kevin O'Marah to chief content officer and member of the board, the organization said Tuesday.
O’Marah will also jointly chair the SCM World Executive Advisory Board alongside Hau Lee of Stanford University. The board is a small group of some of the most influential global supply chain and operations leaders from across industry, with other members serving as board-level global executives from Nike, Starbucks, Microsoft, Land O Lakes, AT&T, General Mills, Merck, Cisco, Barnes&Noble, Dyson, Lenovo, Unilever, and Seagate.
O'Marah most recently served as global vice president for supply chain at Gartner following the 2009 acquisition of AMR Research where he was chief strategy officer.
Frank McGuigan was promoted to executive vice president of operations at outsourced logistics provider Transplace.
He joined the Plano, Texas, logistics company in April 2011 via its acquisition of SCO Logistics, where he was president and chief executive officer. Most recently, he was senior vice president of contract logistics for Transplace. Prior to joining SCO Logistics in 2006, McGuigan held several executive positions at Penske Logistics.
APS Stevedoring, an auto and general cargo/breakbulk stevedoring company based in Long Beach, Calif., appointed Steven K. Nixon to vice president in charge of business development.
Prior to this, Nixon was employed 13 years with Marine Terminals Corp. and Ports America in the bulk and breakbulk division, where he held various operational and managerial positions, culminating as vice president of U.S. bulk and breakbulk.
Janiece M. Longoria was appointed chairman of the Port of Houston Authority port commission.
Longoria replaces long-time Port Chairman James T. Edmonds, who previously announced he would not seek reappointment. Edmonds had served as chairman since 2000.
Longoria joined the port commission in September 2002. Port commissioners serve two-year terms without pay. She is currently a member of both the commission's governance and procurement task forces.
