European economy saps growth at Antwerp port

   The European recession and weak demand for imports led to a decline in cargo volumes at the Port of Antwerp this year, according to preliminary estimates.    The port authority said Thursday that container throughput receded 0.4 percent from last year's level to 8.63 million TEUs and tonnage for all cargo types dipped 1.8 percent to 183.8 million tons.    Bulk freight edged downward 1.3 percent to 64.2 million tons, with dry bulk down 0.4 percent to 19 million tons.&nb...
