European Parliament halts emissions trading for airlines

The European Parliament’s Environmental Committee has backed a proposal to officially suspend the European Union’s emissions trading scheme as it applies to airlines. In November, the European Commission proposed to “stop the clock” on the ETS, providing the International Civil Aviation Organization with enough time to come up with a global solution.
