East Coast Warehouse & Distribution Corp. has opened an expanded non-intrusive (NII) inspection facility located in Elizabeth, N.J. at its comprehensive examination station.
The 14-acre facility is located adacent to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's terminals in Port Elizabeth and Port Newark, and will be operated through a division known as East Coast CES.
The company said the facility will allow for expeditious handling of containers targeted for U.S. Customs and Border Protection exams.
“We are committed to further cultivating our 18-year relationship with the U.S. government as a CES, as well as with the ocean carriers and customhouse brokers, with the opening of this well-engineered and highly-efficient facility,” said James G Overley, chief executive officer of the East Coast CES.
In addition to NII exams performed at the new yard, East Coast CES continues to provide contraband enforcement, agriculture inspections, and manifest exams for imports through the port, and has also made significant enhancements for CBP at its warehouse facility.
