A COSCO Container Lines vessel was the target of a presumed terrorist attack while transiting the Suez Canal over the weekend, Reuters
The 10,062-TEU COSCO Asia
was attacked while exiting the north end of the canal with its convoy, though the head of the canal authority told the news agency that no damages or injuries occurred.
"The attempt failed completely and there were no damages reported to the vessel or to the containers it carried,” Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Memish said. “The situation was dealt with strictly by the armed forces.”
Other reports suggested, however, the ship sustained some damage, though the nature of the attack remained unclear. Reuters
