At 11 p.m. on Feb. 16, 30 armed men forced their way into a warehouse in the Sao Paulo-based industrial park Centro Logistico Brasil, stealing an unknown number of tablet computers and smartphones, according to FreightWatch International.
Analysts are calling it one of the largest thefts in Brazil.
The suspects, who gained access to the building by masquerading as security guards, used nine cars and six trucks to make off with the goods. Intruders, who were carrying machine guns, submachine guns and rifles, then bound 10 guards at the entrance to the facility. The entire episode took an estimated three hours. - Jon Ross
