APL Logistics said Tuesday that it has opened its first quality assurance centers in Bangladesh aimed at the country’s apparel sector.
The two centers, in the capital city of Dhaka and at Bangladesh’s biggest port Chittagong, are in close proximity to the majority of Bangladesh’s garment manufacturers, the company said.
“We are committed to increasing our product portfolio to grow our customer base in Bangladesh and optimize supply chain efficiency for customers,” said Siddharth Adya, APL Logistics’ managing director for South Asia. “Channeling shipments through this center opens up new opportunities for growth, particularly in the fast-growing apparel sector.”
APL Logistics said its customers can centralize quality assurance activities currently performed across various factory locations and involving multiple quality assurance specialists. The facilities also offer other value-added services, such as pick-and-pack, labeling and scanning.
