Air freight express wholesaler Air Menzies International is making a push into India, opening its first operation in Mumbai.
Airport-to-airport traffic to the United Kingdom, United States and Africa will be the company's initial focus moving forward. Additional products will be rolled out in the coming months. According to a company press release, the Indian market is wide open because cargo consolidation and wholesaling has been limited to co-loading among agents.
Trevor Saldanha will run the operations in Mumbai.
"The freight forwarding community in India is about to experience AMI’s unique, trade-only wholesale concept for the first time. Customers can be comfortable in the knowledge that AMI has no direct dealings with shippers, and their relationships are therefore safe. We give our clients the power to compete; we are never their competitor," he said in a statement.
AMI will follow with branches in Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. - Jon Ross
