Drewry: Container industry lost $5.2 billion in 2011

     London-based Drewry Maritime Research estimates the container industry lost as much as $5.2 billion in 2011, despite a projected global container growth of 6.5 percent last year.    Nearly one in three eastbound transpacific shippers and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers has had at least some cargo rolled in recent weeks, but most say it’s not happening often, according to a poll conducted last week by American Shipper .    The poll found that 69 percent said they had no cargo rolled at all, while 28 percent said they had experienced rolls, but not often.    A new report by the Texas Transportation Institute identifies 328 stretches of highway across the nation that are seriously congested on a regular basis over a variety of times during the week.    The least reliable corridor is the southbound section of Georgia Route 400 in Atlanta between the toll plaza and I-85.
